What is an NHS HEI OpenAthens account and who is eligible for it?
An NHS HEI OpenAthens account is used to authenticate eligible higher education students enabling them to gain access to NHS Core Content resources such as online journals and databases provided by Health Education England (HEE) and NICE.
NHS HEI OpenAthens is available to all healthcare students in England, as long as their programme includes practice and/or placement within an NHS organisation. They can have the account for the duration of their course.
