I have a new phone and would like to set this up on my Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). How do I do this?

When you change your mobile phone, it can affect how the MFA for your account works.

To set up your new phone please follow the steps below:

Step 1: using your OLD phone

Delete your old device from your Security Information

  • Go to http://www.ehu.ac.uk/mysecurityinfo (on a laptop or using your old phone handset)
  • Delete your old phone from your authentication list. (click on 3 dots to right of device and select delete)

Step 2: using your NEW phone

Set up your NEW phone on in your MFA App / Edge Hill account.

  • Go back to http://www.ehu.ac.uk/mysecurityinfo (preferably on a laptop)
  • Click Add sign-in method on the Security info page
  • Choose Authenticator App and follow the prompts.
  • When it asks you install Microsoft Authenticator app, click on Download now and press ‘Next’

OPTIONAL Additional Step: This is optional and can be carried out after completing steps 1 and 2 – not essential as your old phone will now show as inactive on your account

  • Start by opening the Microsoft Authenticator app on your old phone
  • Tap on your Edge Hill University account in the app
  • Now tap on the cog icon in the top right hand corner of the window displayed
  • Tap on ‘Remove account’ in the centre of the screen. A confirmation window will be shown requesting confirmation of the removal of the account from the application.

Please note that on iphone or ipad, you may see an additional prompt – if asked, please ensure that you select ‘remove account for application only’ option

Once confirmed, the account will be removed from the phone. It may still be displayed but will be greyed out. This indicates the account has been removed.
