What happens if I report another student to the University for harassment or sexual misconduct?
If you report another student, the University may investigate the concern under the Non-Academic Misconduct Procedure. This process is designed to be fair, trauma-informed, and respectful to everyone involved. Your report will be reviewed, and if there is enough information to proceed, the responding student will be informed and invited to a meeting.
Both you and the responding student will have the opportunity to share relevant information and suggest witnesses. A decision will be made based on the balance of probabilities - meaning whether it is more likely than not that the misconduct occurred. In serious cases, the matter may be referred to a Student Misconduct Panel. You will be kept informed throughout the process and offered support at every stage.
