What happens when I place a request, hold, or reservation on a book via Discover More?
You can request books through Discover More. Once you place a request, we'll make the book available for collection from Catalyst as soon as possible.
If all copies are on loan, you'll join a queue. Current loans won't renew, and borrowers will be asked to return the book. We'll email you when your book is ready to collect.
If a copy is available on the shelf, our team will retrieve it and place it on the reservation shelves for you.
Collecting your book
We'll email you when your book is ready. The email will tell you:
- Where to collect your book
- How long we'll hold it for (usually 7 days)
When you collect your book:
- Find your reservation on the shelves, arranged by student number and then surname
- Bring your UniCard
- Borrow the book using a self-service machine or at the Catalyst Helpdesk before you leave
Loan information
- Most books can be borrowed for 4 weeks
- Loans renew automatically unless another student has requested the item
